Etsy shop

A lovely customer has bought 2 pairs of cashmere - gingham baby shoes 2 days ago for twin babies. I do hope they will look nice and be comfortable for the babies' feet. I love Etsy, everything I need are there.

I am on a go of making a pink pair of baby girl shoes, I use cotton fabric for quilting and practice sashiko stitches on them and on the ribbon. I use DMC 25 embroidery thread, I like to try to stitch with sashiko threads but the price is just higher than ordinary embroidery thread so I used DMC 25. I am still not sure what motif I will use to decorate the shoes, uh?

I managed to finished the shoes off. I hand sewn the shoes and stitched with bright pink thread.
I used the paler pink ribbon I have bought long time ago but it looks too pale so I stitched it as well.
I changed the motifs many times till I ended up with using kawaii cotton/linen fabric to cover plastic buttons.
I hand crocheted DMC 25 thread, then stitched around the buttons. It took me a while to finish them off, I will keep them for my friend's baby girl.

Here more pictures!!

I couldn't finish them without a gift bag, this one is very easy to make. I used the the same fabric I sewn the shoes.

Hand sewn Cashmere baby shoes

Remnant fabric is good source of my craft material, also new garments that are too faulty that the shops reduce price for nothing. Some of them are too damaged to wear but they are still as good as gold to be designed and sewn to something else.

I made two pairs of baby shoes for boy and girl (ideal for twins), the lining is 100% gingham cotton. I covered the buttons with gingham fabric, I used an elastic hairband to secure the motif .

I used the sleeve cuff piece to make the frilly flower before stitching a covered button on it.
I handsewn bags for both shoes, they are nice for baby shower gifts.

My passion for zakka and hand sewing

I like to share my passion for hand sewing on my blog, it is the best relaxation for me. My son, athi is into sharks, after reading him bed time stories about this creature nights after nights, I have this design in my head so I transferred  to the fabric. The outer is linen and the blue stripe is cotton, I put a blue zipper to make a purse and stitched and embroidered.  I hand sewn seam with backstitch to make it strong,
Athi names him Gilbert and he asked me to make him a cushion for his playroom, that is my next task!!

Gilbert is 10 cm x 10 cm, he is friendly and always smiles. With the help of Gilbert, my coins are safe.

Crochet- Baby shoes

I like to knit, sew, crochet baby shoes, I crocheted this pair using ROWAN 4 ply cotton mixed milk protein. The result is lovely. I made two pieces for a sole and stitched them together so the sole was shape nicely. I think the wooden bear button goes with the creamy color of yarn quite well. These shoes stay on baby feet perfectly.
Cotton is good for summer, I am going to crochet two more pairs using 4 ply wool mixed cashmere for my friends ' grandchildren in winter.  I love to work with 4 ply yarn for baby shoes, they are cute and the creamy color can go for boy and girl

my knitted flower

This is my first photo of my work to show you,  I hope you like it.
I knitted the flower first, then the stem and sewed them together to a bookmark.

Knitted Brooch

I managed to knit a flower using the same ROWAN 4 ply wool - cashmere yarn, I prefer wool to cotton yarn when I knit flower.  I started knitting using garter stitches from the first petal, and left them on the needle till I finished 5 of them, then threaded the yarn to the embroidery needle and sewn the petals together and this is the result.

I stitched loops in the middle with ROWAN 4 ply baby pink cotton yarn,

I use an orange bead stitched in the middle of the flower, I think I will make a brooch .
